Hello dear Lanette. I would like to wax eloquent but merc ret saw the end of my motherboard. My computer is in the repair shop and I’m typing on a tiny phone with one finger never having managed the two thumb method. The first thing that comes to my mind is “you got this!” Because having witnessed you here I’ve seen how fiercely and tenderly you grapple with and embrace life. I also like to remind people turning sixty that for a decade you can call yourself a sexagenarian! I’m a septuagenarian now but still too close to my sixties to distill the decade. If we’re paying attention we all know we’re living in parlous times. I’m wishing you renewable resources that you can call on. Courage humor. Respite when you need it and amazing grace and many moments of joy! Happy birthday and happy decade!
I found it so frustrating realizing it was AI, though. This new trend is making me want to stop watching any videos, as there's often no way to tell what's real! The only comfort I draw is that the disclaimer says they make their AI videos based on real people telling their stories--so perhaps this is real advice, even if spoken by an AI voice.
Yes! In the weeks after my son died, I took up daily yoga with YouTube videos as a means of forcing myself to do one thing with my body every day. Nine years later I still do yoga every single day. I wish I'd known sooner how much it would help me!
Oooh. Good one. Thinking... because I'm about to turn 65. But everyone is so different! So many of the things I wish I had done differently, or that I think I'm doing a good job of, are specific to me. Okay, I guess the ones that stand out for me in this moment are:
-Don't mortgage the present for an imaginary future. I think you're doing fine with this, as far as I can tell. But lots of people seem to think the only point of the present is to stock up for the future. I vehemently disagree. Make sure the present is worthwhile. Do not assume there will be another 30 years in which to get things right or fix stuff. Identify unfinished business and address it in a gentle and merciful manner. That includes reaching back to your former selves and treating them, too, with loving kindness.

I'm about to be a sexagenarian!! This is the best news ever and I shall use this vocab word all year! Thank you, Elizabeth.
Wow…this video is quite something! It has made me think 🤔

-Get outside as often as possible.
Yes, that second one is so important. I've had enough of winter!
